Freakin Sinking!!

I bought this boat from someone and took it out for the first time today and the left hull stayed absolutely dry, but I ended up sailing about to miles to shore with the right hull entirely submerged. When I got it on shore, water was leaking out of where the cap for a hull port goes on. It''s one of those twist and lock ones from Rabud Inc. That''s the only spot where water was coming in from, and after about 30 minutes on the water, that hull was filled to the top. It''s not leaking from around the outside lip of the entire port, but just from around the cap that locks into it. Is there supposed to be an O-Ring in there or something??? If a missing O-Ring isn''t the problem, then I don''t see how the heck that thing is supposed to be water tight.

I would be suprised that a leaking port could leak enough to fill the hull in 30 mins. Could it be that there was already a lot of water in the hull before you went sailing?

Most of those ports - called inspection ports have an o-ring seal. Problem is I have never seen only the o-rings (or enven just the covers for sale separately so you may have to replace the whole port. The good news is that you can get the whole thing for under $20.
