Umm... the limited fetch makes it much nicer to sail in that area for given wind conditions... that's cheating.

Going out in a Gale here can be dangerous but nothing like what you'd find on our coast. If you're gonna practice in heavy weather, pick your poison. Go out the first time in Force 7-8. Then maybe later in Force 9-10. I don't advocate going out into the Pacific in Force 10, not by a long shot.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

Couldn't rustle up crew. We saw 35+ at Smith Is. and I wasn't sailing with a total rookie in that so we just hung out and listened to distress calls while messing about the boat.

The winds per the edmonds kingston ferrie were 15-20 at about 10:30, when we went out it is 10-15, then after we got back in, it went back up to 15-20! We had a good sail, food and beer at anthonys seafood grill here in edmonds after!

we crossed the strait of georgia this PM on the ferry, and it looked very, very messy out there; the slamming of waves against the ship's hull kept setting of some nitwit's car alarm. and yet inside the gulf islands gull **** would fall straight down (the poor man's anemometer). the variability around here is incredible, and a good reason to not trust what you see, because it might be completely different around the corner.
