Visiting Los Angeles and in need of recommendations...

Hey there,

This is actually my first post. I was introduced to this site by the Funkhousers of Exploramar.
Anyway, I am just learning to sail, have done probably about fifteen hours on water, my girlfriend has done just three hours, all in the San Francisco Bay Area.... in the Bay though, none out at sea.
My Girlfriend and I will be in LA this coming weekend (the 25th-28th) and would love to get on the water there. If you have any recommendations as to how we might best go about achieving that, please let me know. We are looking either to get out on a private lesson, or to meet some good folks who might be short a hand or two. Really though, any suggestions....bring'em on.

Nice to be a part of the virtual community. Hope to see you out there....

Check out Marina Sailing

www.marinasailing.com

They provide lessons and this is a slow time for them, so they might have something available. Or you could just charter one of their boats and have it skippered by them to allow you to gain experience.

They have a bunch of different locations. I used them out of Long Beach, which is about 40 minutes from downtown LA.
