New sailor, expedition and certification?

New sailor here...Rather adventurous and am looking to get certified while being on the sea for a week or two. All the sites I visit either only offer certification for short courses, or offer expeditions without certification. Any recommendations of a place that offer both?

There are numerous charter experiences that you can investigate (boatus.com has a selection of them)....

Depending on the cert you are going for it can be longer though....usually more adventageous to take local courses (cheaper by far) and then you can mix a vacation with learning with one of the charter courses and get more out of it (in my opinion)...

Please read this post to get the most out of your time here on Sailnet. It would help if you said where you are located, and what kind of certification are you looking for.

Are you looking for an RYA Yatchmaster, which is a certification that is pretty much recognized world wide and would allow you to work as crew or captain on sailboat deliveries in much of the world, except the USA, which requires a USCG Captain's license to work as a delivery captain.

Or are you just looking for a bareboat certification, like the USAA or ASA certifications often required by charter boat companies for bareboat chartering.

Florida keys sailings offers a week long course going from basic keel boat to and overnight cruise with bareboat certification from ASA. Or check for similar schools on the ASA website. that's the American Sailing Association.
