New Here

I'm new to this forum, just like to say thanks to those involved in keeping this site up and running.

My name is Jim, 39 years of age and today I'm feeling it... I became interested in sailing about 2 years ago. As a young man, I spent summers crewing on various fishing vessels with my father on Florida's west coast. We even lived aboard a few boats but nothing with sails. Last summer I was invited to spend a day sailing around the Florida Keys and shorty after returning home to NW Florida I began looking for sailing schools and project boats. I have made myself aware of all the local marinas and studied local charts mainly because it's all I can afford to do at the moment. An unexpected family emergency recently devoured my savings so I'm back to square one with nothing but a dream of fair skies and warm breezes living aboard my very own sailing sloop.

I do have a plan. I plan to attend some sailing classes this summer as time and money will allow and in my spare time I plan to build a small glass over plywood home brew day sailor. Any tips would be helpful. Links or info on where to a buy a used mast and sails would greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

JW
