schools in Florida

Wanting to take lessons soon on how to sail, looking into a live aboard school. Was wondering what are good schools around. Also I am not set in a live aboard, I have heard of a couple of different schools and just wanting to get a couple of opnions on where to learn. Also I was wondering of the advantages of ASA certification and RYA certification. Thanks in advance for the help.

After a long 20+ year hiatus from sailing I decided to go to a school before buying a keel boat for my family. I chose Blue Water Sailing School in FL. They were wonderful. The live aboard format really immersed the participants into sailing and the learning did not stop with the classes. Great program I highly recommend it. I do not have any experience with the RYA. Good luck in your school search.

Colgate in Captiva does a live aboard class. They also do one out of St. Pete and the keys. Check out the website for details and $$$

Both of the above are excellent schools. Dependent on your starting point both offer many options. As you progress up the certification levels ( BWSS is ASA) Blue Water offers a few more options just based on their location in Ft. Lauderdale.
