Post received and recommendation noted, Widgeon. Thanks for the input!

Duh, I only found it days later. Maybe next time I should read the forum's How-to's more carefully.

However, there are A LOT of suggestions on that thread, from beginning books to slightly off-topic fiction, but you might find what you're looking for there.

that's cause you have a very perverse sense of humor... and secretly believe/hope that by reading about it, you can avoid it happening to you.

You know what the first rule of sailing is? ...Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take
a boat to the sea you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps
her going when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

I own "Start Sailing Right", by Derrick Fries (pretty good, but basic), and "Sailing Fundamentals", by Gary Jobson (more thorough, but poorly written and edited). What would be a good book that covers some topics past the basics?
a series of books I still find myself returning to for reference is believe it or not the Time Life Library of boating. It's older from 1975 but they cover alot of topics and most of the info is timless.

Maybe try Amazon or E-bay Who knows maybe Time Life still prints them.

Has anyone else read these books?

Beginner Books

Believe it or not we really like the Sailing for Dummies book for novices. As with most of the dummies series they break it down very gently for starters!
