A message from God?

While preparing to launch my Precision-15 for its (and mine) first voyage, a strong gust of wind blew my hat off my head. Should that be interpreted as a message from God? Well, in any case I ignored it and had a great time seeing if the sailing books were telling the truth.

Quickly figured out that sailing upwind is easier and more relaxing than sailing downwind. I learned that when the sails begin to make noise, that means things are about to get really boring, or really exciting. I leaned I can scurry across the cockpit to the other side of the boat in nanoseconds when necessary. I learned it IS necessary when you lose track of the wind when sailing downwind.

I learned that a P-15 is a patient, forgiving teacher, and a good sailing partner.

Yeah it was a message that today you will not get hit by the boom. Maybe next time wear a helmet. In my experience God often arrives after the fox hole is under fire.

Good times. On an early late night trip of mine, a dangling reef line lifted a beanie off my head and tossed it in the drink during a tack in brisk winds. Lessons!

better your hat than your head... and I bet you tighten up on those reefing lines a bit more as a matter of habit now.
