How long a pennant ... ?
We're talking about a little Chrysler LS-16 daysailer here. How much room should there be between the top of my jib and the block? How about between my clew and the end of my boom? Or the tack of my main and the boom downhaul cleat? The illustration in the PDF owners manual is pretty vague.
Anybody happen to know where I can get the REAL dimensions of the sails for this boat?
The real dimensions may not apply to your boat if the mast or boom has been modified.
Generally, there should be a small gap between the block and the head of the sail when at full hoist so that the sail can be tensioned a bit more when it stretches slightly, as often happens when sailing in heavier winds. The same applies to the foot of the mainsail. Often the boom and mast will have a black strip that indicates the full outhaul or hoist distance.
