Jib luff types
What am I supposed to do with luff grommets on a jib? My current working jib has piston-hanks, so I understand those.
I'm looking for an heavy-air jib (actually just an undersized jib from a smaller boat than my already-small Hunter 18.5) to use with a deep reef in my mainsail when the wind picks up above 15kt. I've seen twist hanks, and know to stay away from those, especially for a heavy-air type sail. I know that luff tape is for furling systems, which my boat is not equipped with. But I'm seeing sails that have luff grommets, and I'm not sure what to do with that? Are those for attaching piston-hanks to? Are there other clips that I use for this application? Like small carabiners?
