Talking need information on sailing!

Hi Everyone!

I'm writing a book and I'm looking for information. Specifically, I want to have the characters sail from San Francisco to New Zealand in a sailing vessel (no electricity or motor power). I know nothing about sailing so I'm a bit lost as to where to start, but any advice regarding the size of the ship, the weather issues, etc. would be very much appreciated!! Thanks.

why are you posting a thread that you have already posted and are getting feedback on?

As a sailor I wouldn't want to read a sailing story written by someone who has never sailed.. no offense man, but the things you can explain best are the things you do most

Good point. My hunch is that a sailing story written by non-sailor isn't going to be very believable.

So, do what good writers do. RESEARCH.

Go out and sail or change the subject of your book.
