Thats a stupid 'sport'.

Sailing beats it

Sailormon6 will become famous soon enough
Congratulations, BS! The Laser is a good boat for learning. If you don't pay close attention to what you're doing, it'll also teach you to swim. I'm glad to hear you're hooked. Keep your head down!

Much appreciated, Sailormon6

I do intend to move up to a Corsair after I get confident in the Laser. After I get confident in that... it becomes time to convince the missus into a larger boat. Sometime before that occurs though

Firstly, it is harder to sail a boat by oneself than it looks (both physically and in knowing what to do when).

Secondly, and most importantly, I now know without a doubt that sailing is "my thing".

It was bloody wonderful
Welcome to the club :-)

When I first did my solo on 27ft sloop I was already experienced skipper in blue water cruising on 47ft ketch with the crew.
Nevertheless I felt as excited as you are.

Keep sailing and stay safe

Once a skipper, forever hooked
My husband and I started sailing a Hobie several years back, taking turns to skipper, and fantasizing about getting a cruiser one day.
Last weekend, I was given an opportunity to take over the tiller of a 49 foot racer/cruiser, going at a respectable 10 knots, and man was I hooked! There were about 15 more people on the boat, and I was under strict supervision of the skipper, but the feeling was amazing! Embarking on my first training tour in 5 days' time
