Annapolis Boat Races

Well, I tried to "walk the dock", but like a moron I went to the Annapolis Yacht CLub....they frown on upon the walking of their dock by the non-members. haha But, I finally said forget it and went over to Pusser's for a drink. There I saw the Schooner Woodwind ( and Woodwind II) basically go out and race each other and you can jump on board.

I know it wasn't a real race and I was just a passenger, but it was awesome. We were hailing arse because the wind was really blowing......then, it rained like heck for about 5 minutes, which was great after this 96 degree day. Once the rain passed we sail up the Severn River ( i think ) and back down and eventually back to the area behind Pusser's where they dock.

Again, I was just a passenger, but it was great. I look forward to getting out there and getting some actual experience.

Just sharing my info with other beginners....I go Saturday for some actual sailing..

Try dock-walking at Mears Marina, Port Annapolis, and Jabin's.

I think being onboard one of the Woodwinds for a race is awesome, even if you were just riding and not working. It gave you the opportunity to observe everything.

Sorry about your experience at AYC. That place is pretty exclusive. Trust me, there are plenty of boats out there looking for crew. You'll find your ride.
