That's a very good deal Mark! Cheapest I found a complete vang for my boat was actually through Catalina Direct...$119 for the complete assembly.

To clarify the spinnaker question. Once it's up the main is to fill the spinnaker correct ? I find without tying it down it can flop all around (main sail). So the vang would help this out, correct ?

Now I went through the parts books at work today and I can buy the fiddle blocks fairly cheap. I have enough rope on board to string them. My question is should I use 5/16 3/8 or 1/2 rope ? I have lots of 5/16 and 3/8 to use does it really matter which one on a 25 ft boat ?

thanks everyone for all the good info.

Certainly won't need 1/2"... go with what fits in the blocks and doesn't hurt the hand when you pull it. On a smallish boat I'd use the 5/16.

Not quite getting your question on the spinnaker/main issue.

Have a good one... be sure to keep an eye on the tides/depth in Telegraph.. mighty skinny water at the end near the passage and marina.

We're off in a few hours for Smuggler Cove on the Sunshine coast.
