Best Outboard

I am thinking about a purchase of a new motor. I''ve narrowed it down to a Suzuki or a Nissan. Any thoughts about which is better?

I can''t say which is better but I have had a Nissan 9.8 HP on my dingy for three years. It started on the second pull out of the box and usually starts on the first pull now. It has required no maintnenance so far. I originally bought it because it was the lightest outboard for it''s HP out there.

I''ll have to second Sailmc''s comments.I purchased a 5 hp 4 stroke Nissan 3 years ago for my dink.It always starts on the first or second pull.I''ve not had to do any maintenance on it yet.

I guess we are talking outboard motor here. I purchased my single cylinder 6 hp Nissan 4 stroke long leg after some research on weight, reliability,noise, performance. It is quite fine. For esthetics I wanted a white engine to go with my white boat so it would not look so obtrusive but only Johnson made one and that company is a basket case since the Bombardier takeover. I also wanted a twin cylinder for smoother running but the single is very good on gas (excellent range, 40 miles/tank) and idles very smooth.

I, too, have a Nissan (longshaft two-stroke) 5hp. It has been extremely reliable. Best of luck.
