Has anyone tried a whisker pole with their asymmetrical to try to make it work deeper downwind (even wing and wing)?

The manual with my Forespar LC10-18 does mention using it with an a-sail but does not go into detail. The greatest problem seems to be removing it in a safe manner. With the jib you can just furl it then remove the pole. With the a-sail I suppose you could pull the sock most of the way down....

have gone DDW with and without a pole.


DDW without pole



DDW with a spinnaker pole



Put everything up on a broad reach. then gybe the main. For a take down: gybe the main, get on a broad reach, take the pole down, then douse the gennaker.

In all honesty it is the faster and safer to broad reach and gybe.

Assym on a pole is great! But it's also a lot more hardware than most cruisers want to deal with. Jack, so your pole works well without a bridal? The loads must be pretty big reaching, no?
