We did it!

My wife and I picked up a Vangaurd Zuma about a month ago, and finally, after a bunch of books, youtube, and of course "Sailnet", we took it out for the first time today. Had a blast! It was nice to actually FEEL what we have been reading. Will be back out there practicing again tomorrow. It all made a lot more sense when we were actually in the boat. Great feeling when you feel the pull on the sail, and the boat heels over and starts picking up speed!

Re: We did it!

Honestly, the only sailing that's more fun than a boat like that is when you add a jib. Big boats are more comfortable and they're sometimes prestigious, but more fun? Nah.

Re: We did it!

ZUMA is a GREAT boat to cut your teeth, it's fast, it's easy, and FUN... good luck, but do yourself a favor if you ever upgrade, don't let that ZUMA go!

"Rum Line" an S2 7.9 - cheap, fast, trailerable, and paid for.
