You can go to the BOSS website as they have a blog and pictures. I am not sure they have a video. barefootoffshore.com

I have added my comments about 'Why go to Sailing School?' and the costs of my trip to BOSS on my blog MokaKat Sailing. I hope this provides some information and costs about a week's sailing class in the Caribbean.

I went back and added a couple of videos on my blog (www.MokaKat.com) of our sail in squally seas on Day 7 of the blog. Also another video on Day 2. Not the best quality, but interesting. The catamaran was actually very stable in 40 kt winds, with 3 reefs in the main and jib.

DO NOT TAKE A COURSE WITH BOSS!
My husband and I took ASA 106 with them, starting at St. Martin to St. Lucia. We left the boat in the middle of the trip as the boat did not meet any safety standards. Below are a list of problems we encountered on our trip. Do Not get onto a boat until you have personally inspected the vessel.
ASA 104 Vessel Deficencies
1. Lack of a Legal Head - No Holding Tank.
2. House and Engine Battery Not Isolated - Battery Voltage Marginal - 11 volts - Engine May Not Start In an Emergency.
3. Navigational Lights Not Legal - Steaming Light Did Not Work.
4. Speed Log Did Not Work.
5. No refrigeration - Neither Refrigeration Unit Worked. Had to throw perishable food out.
6. Seacocks were left open while out at sea - if a hose leak developed - vessel would sink by the time leak is discovered in heavy seas.
7. No Jacklines were installed or rigged - risk of going overboard.
8. Steering Quadrant jury rigged with Dynmea line instead of being properly repaired with Original Equipment Stainless Steel Cable - had failed before - in heavy seas could have contributed to the loss of the vessel.
9. Diesel fuel in the bilge could have contributed to a fire on board.
10. Freshwater tanks leaking into the bilge.
11. Jib sheets severely frayed - possible failure in heavy seas.
12 *Anchor Windlass did not operate in the down mode - marginal operation.
13 *Safety cover missing on the windlass control, could be activated accidentally, causing potential serious injury.
14 *Cargo loaded in the aft cabin making access to the batteries buried underneath impossible in an emergency if there was an electrical fire.
15 *Dinghy engine would start sometimes - obviously carburetor needed to be overhauled along with new spark plugs.
16 *Gas tank was stored in aft lazzarete locker that was not isolated from vessel interior - if leak occured could lead to fire and explosion
17 *For a 300 nautical mile journey as a training course there should have been a crew of at least four people. *The Captain should have had a first mate under the circumstances.
18. Life raft was buried in the cockpit sole, in the heavy seas we experienced it would have been next to impossible to lift the Life Raft Cannister out of the recess with the crew available.
