Sailing books
I purchased my first sailboat last summer and had a blast. I'm hoping to do some reading over the winter to develop my understanding of sailing. While I know the very basics, I'm still ignorant of alot of common knowledge related to seamanship, boat maintenance, reading the weather, navigation, etc.
What are some books that you have personally found helpful? Thanks! |
Re: Sailing books
"The Complete Guide to Catamarans" is said to be a good read, I haven't purchased a copy yet. They are available on Amazon.

These books totally increased my knowledge and approach to sailing:
Sensible Cruising; The Thoreau Approach, Don Casey The Capable Cruiser, Lin/Larry Pardey How to Sail Around the World, Hal Roth Voyagers handbook, Beth Leonard Books to feed the a sailors soul: Dove, Robin Graham Lionhart, Jesse Martin Maiden Voyage, Tania Aebi The Long Way, Bernard Moitessier A World of my Own, Robin Knox-Johnston |
Re: Sailing books
If you're after a book that covers near all the bases, I've found The Annapolis Book of Seamanship by John Rousmaniere to be pretty good.
Also appreciate the Blue Book of Sailing by Adam Cort to be pretty good :) |
Re: Sailing books
Some good recommended reading. I have quite a few of them. I think you could also add Storm Tactics by the Pardeys. I also found FASNET 10
a pretty good and informational. |
