Space Coast Florida, Private Instruction?

This looks like a common request. I'm looking for an instructor interested in sailing lessons on my Coronado 25 with my wife and a couple of friends.

If you have any recommendations in Titusville, Cocoa, or Merrit Island, please pass them along.

Try Patrick at Beachside Sailing, he is at Harbortown Marina on Merritt Island and teaches ASA courses.

Re: Space Coast Florida, Private Instruction?

They actually have two instructors and we were fortunate enough to have both at some point or another. They were both really friendly and helpful, they gave us enough space to figure things out on our own, and they were really laid back. I put that last bit in there because my wife kept accidentally jibing and he didn't get frustrated by it

I really enjoyed my time with them and would consider doing a few more courses with them, but I would probably be doing them solo unless I found someone else to do it with. That said, if you decide to do the Coastal Cruising course, let me know, I may be willing to go with you as well.

Their boats are in good shape, we did our 101 class in a Hunter 23 which is a bit tender, but was good to learn on. I think they do the next few stages on their Oday 30, which I have not seen. Be sure to ask him about his project boat as well

I just took my ASA 101 class last weekend at Beachside Sailing with Captain Billy and had a great time! I joined their sailing club to get some practice and they host races on Thursday nights. Very friendly group! I can PM his contact information to you if you're interested.

My boat is in the slip next to his project boat, and it is indeed a very cool project. And Capt. Pat and Billy are both good guys.....I doubt you'll find better people to take lessons from.

Stop by if you're in the area on the weekend and say hey.....would love to share a coldie with fellow 'netters.

I think we almost hit your boat docking during our class

Just kidding... We did end up docking next to his project for a while though. I can't remember, what is it again?

I like Harbortown, if it wasn't so far from us (Indialantic), we'd leave our boat there. I like the food there, too and the contractor list has become my goto guide for people in the area

Ahhhhh, so that was you!

I think Patrick's boat is an Island Trader 36 or 37 from the late '60s......

That looks about right, it's been a while since I saw it last. I do remember liking what I saw though, even if it was a project
