Relocating via ICW

I''m a legal resident Brit, heading down the ICW from Norfolk late this year to relocate south
Taking about 4 months free time I''ll be looking for a job and a liveaboard slip somewhere between Tampa & Key West. I have no set plan because that''s the adventure but if anyone has similar experiences please share. I''m a Computer professional though eventually I will drop that trade within 2 years and looking for interesting work and somewhere cool to live aboard my sailboat.
I thought about Fort Myers maybe, who knows, just let me know the positives, the negatives never really help anyone live their dream, but by all means let me know the realities I''m smart enough to be wise about my goals.
Any tips info or advice gladly welcomed.
Regards
Alan Andrews - Limey
