Wink Looking for live aboard in Olympia Washington ASAP

Hello all - I need your advice and help. I am finally in the position to fullfill a life time dream of living aboard. However how it has come about is all last minute an unexpected. I have accepted a promotion and start Monday, I am looking for a live aboard to purchase, however will rent until I can find the one to buy. I need guidance as to pet restrictions and which Olympia Marinas you-all reccomend thanks oodles. See you out there.

Re: Looking for live aboard in Olympia Washington ASAP

Hey Punchingbag-

I live in Olympia at Swantown Marina. It's run by the city and by all standards is considered the nicest. I love it, it's walking distance to downtown and the farmer's market, has nice bathrooms, etc. There are several others in the area, and you may be able to get live aboard status sooner at those (I had to wait a couple months before mine came through here, but I don't know what the wait list is like nowadays.) There is a place called West Bay Marina that is the one I might avoid. It is not so nice and not within walking distance to anything.

If you are looking for someone to help you shop- I bought my boat through the local boat dealer, capital city yachts. I didn't go anywhere else, and some of their brokers are real jerks. But Garret was great… helped me in a LOT of ways (like you, I did it in a rushed way, very 'spur of the moment' and have not regretted it). If you do call Garret, let him know Wade told you about him, he went the extra mile several times for me.

maybe we'll see you around Budd Inlet soon!

Re: Looking for live aboard in Olympia Washington ASAP

On What Nauti Ladd said. Garret at Capital City Yachts is awesome. by far the freindliest guy there although I only had one of the guys be kind of a jerk. but yes Garret is great. I second West bay is a little dirty. although probably has the shortest wait list. .. waitlist at Swan town was 20 people last week so might be a little bit of a wait there. 20 people could be next month(not likely) or in a year(much more likely) or 3 years if noone moves out(less likely but possible) hope to see you here.

Re: Looking for live aboard in Olympia Washington ASAP

Other places in town to look at are Olympia Yacht club although its a pretty steep cost to join and Percival Landing. they are much smaller then West Bay and Swantown but still might have something. I am actually headed down to the waterfront in a few minutes and plan on dropping by Percival to check on their status and wait list Ill let you know what I learn.
