Needing to find a LiveAboard Marina

Hi
We just read your note about the marina you live at.
It sounds just the type of place we are looking for.
We are at present living aboard in Madeira Beach but things are changing and not for the better.
We would realy appreciate any info you could give us on the marina ie location, rates restrictions etc

Hey, we have been living aboard for 15 years. First we did the keys for the winter and summer in longboatkey...We always anchor out in the keys but did a dock for the summer(ac)....We have paid up to $82 a nite for our 28'' morgan outisland...and a $1000 a month for perm dock....thats florida for you...We have relocated to the Texas coast and now pay $165.00 a month ....and that includes everything, plus we are members of the Yatch Club for free....and can now go stay our one nite free at all other Yatch Clubs that are members of the American Yatch ...We have a nice dayroom, cable tv, internet, a work shop, washer and dryer, stove frig, protecterd harbor,,,the best harbor master we have ever meet....and very clean showers....So stop paying those prices in florida and if you have to sit, and not sail, come sit with us at Nautical Landings Marina in Port Lavaca Texas...PS drop by for our Sat nite BBQ....every Sat nite....

That seems pretty expensive for a marina. What facilities do they have there? I was looking to live aborad but at that rate I would rather pay a mortage.

At what ''rate / foot'' do you get a nice marina versus a ''trailer park''? I know this surely depends on location etc... Lets just say near Miami or other large cities in Florida.

aka gerry springers marina.10 bux per foot per month.poorly managed bunghole of a water-borne trailerpark-----unpaved grounds,filthy water,facilities fit for a bum,a real crime-ridden drug dealer infested marina."salsipuedes" as they say in mexico.it helps to fit in if you dont use deodorant.a definite plus if you are missing teeth.also good if you have an illigitimate inter-racial kid running around naked chasing the cats and dogs.lotsa slips too.jus'dont draw more than 3 feet or yore fast aground come low water.also ya mus'be dismasted or the planes at ft lauderdale will clip yer mast.ifya gotta good trowin'arm you can cause a plane crash as its spittin' distance from the southern most runway at ft laud international.this shithole made the front page of "bumsworld magazine"

We're looking for a live-aboard along the St. John's river (Florida). We like Lake George and Crescent Lake area.. but anywhere along the St John's is good.

Hubby (to-be) will be working in the Orlando/Ocala/Daytona area.. so the commute should be pretty good for him.

We're looking at purchasing a 72'.. hopefully there are some good docks around (Holly Bluff is an option!) just checking out other options in other areas!

If you are looking for a marina to stay as a live aboard check out Skipper Bob's book "Marinas on the ICW". He lists almost every marina on the eastern seaboard, including all of Florida. In it he gives monthly rates, liveaboad fees and anyother fees. He also lists all amenities of the marina., shopping in the area. And the book is about $15. You can go to his website to get locations to buy his books.

Deryk: I have a 37' Endeavour sloop that we have lived on for the last 4 years. I have a live aboard slip in down town Daytona. The vessel has had a total refit in 2004-2005 Including NEW diesel eng.and new 16,500 btu a/c unit. I'm asking $49,900 for the boat and the slip goes with it. I'm thinking in liveabord, i will going to buy a catalina 27, because I don't have more money, and I try to liveaboard on it, I'm single for these it's more simple, I like to know where I can find a marina for it. Thanks
