Marina Del Rey Liveaboard

I will be relocating to LAX (airport area) in Los Angeles and would like to consider living in the marina. Anyone have thoughts on:

1. Renting an apartment or house in the marina/general area?
2. Renting and living aboard a yacht in the marina?
3. Purchasing yacht/slip and living in the marina?

Be there a couple years.

Hi Jim - I will be moving into the marina and living aboard a 36' yacht home starting this July and it looks like a really well-maintained spot. There are also lots of boats for sale in the area and some are pretty well priced.

Also, they do have some slips that are open for live aboard status (I am not sure if there are vacancies though). I will be getting a slip transfered to me with the boat I am buying - the slip is around $550/month and may be a little more for the live aboard status.
