New to this site

Hello All,
New to this site. Sold everything and bought a 47 ft cruiser. Planning to summer live aboard for 2-3 years and then full time. Looking to learn all I can and this site looks like a wealth of info. Anyway, hello to all.
Alvin

Welcome, and you are correct sir, there are some extremely knowledgeable people who contribute on this forum.
If you ask a question here, you may get more info than you bargained for but you will get answers.
Glad to have you on board.

Welcome! Just curious - what do you plan to do in the winters? Where are you, is location the reason you are 'summer only?'

We were 'summer only' in northern Lake Michigan, now that we've moved to the Chesapeake we live aboard year round and love it, cold and snow here is not too serious (compared to Michigan LOL)

Hi Alvin...Welcome! What kind of 47 ft. boat?

sailingdog 09-22-2006 11:13 PM

Welcome, and please do tell what boat you're sailing on. Also might want to mention what areas of the world you're planning to cruise in.

We purchased a 1990 47' Del Rey aft cabin fly bridge MY. Taiwan built, twin cat 3208's. Its in Florida now. We plan to begin the trip north in early April, ending up in Midland, Ontario. I think its still on Yachtworld.com if you want a look. We will live aboard summers only for a few years, wintering in Las Vegas and area. After that we plan to migrate, summers in Canada and winters in Florida and the Bahamas. Plans don't extend much beyond the vision other than to try to spend Xmas on the boat.

Is it a motoryatch or a motorsailer... from your description it sounds like a motoryatch...not a sailboat.

ModMMax 10-03-2006 01:39 PM

Thanks sailingdog. Your right, its a motoryacht. Sorry, got so excited about the idea of living aboard and finding a forum for same that I overlooked the forcus on sailboats. Does anyone know of a forum especially for motoryacht owners? Thanks in advance.

'sokay! relax!

:) You're welcome to stay anyway - we liveaboards are (mostly) a live-and-let-live laidback group. "Pirate's Booty" is also a powerboater.
