Windlass

Ahoy,
Last time I ask for input on this issue.
Going to be buying right after the AC Boatshow this weekend.
Have a 38'' Irwin CC.
Intend to start living aboard very very shortly. Starting in Chesapeake Bay this spring, moving south in fall and intend to stay in FL with intentions to sail to the Caribbean.
I''ve almost decided on a Maxwell Vertical Windlass the 1200 Series with 3/8 chain.
Any thoughts anyone??? Right size for my boat???
Also on the rode itself. I''m contemplating 150'' chain and 100'' rope. Bruce anchor as my main anchor.
I will carry a Fortress for the Chesapeake which I''ve used last season with great results. This will also be my second anchor when I''m heading south and staying there.
Looking for input.

Windlass

Suggest that your Fortress (?FX-37 @ 21#) would be your THIRD anchor; behind your Bruce (?44#), and a new Delta 44#.
The Maxwell 1200 has maximum 1200# of pull, which may suffice to 20-30kts wind (depending upon current). The 3/8" chain matches your proposed set-up, and could be paired with 5/8" or 3/4" Nylon.
Good luck!!!

Would suggest looking into the Ideal Windlass. Lots more power and excellant quality. Have had it on board for 6 years and completely satisfied. Was reviewed by PC as #1. Good luck
