Dogs on boats (Live Aboard)

So, can you train a dog to be on a boat? I mean, I have always had a dog? Is it at all practical to have one when living aboard a boat? I mean, it's not like I would be taking the pup onto land for multiple walks per day, I just want to know what the feasibility is of actually living with a dog on a boat. I wouldn't want to make a pooch unhappy.
