Ultimately depends on how much time you spend connected to shore power. In our case that is virtually never so we need machine that is straight 12v. On Raven we have something that looks like an el cheapo version of the Stanley. I like DeWalt gear but the need to recharge battery kills that idea.
I had "an el Cheapo version of the Stanley" ($9.99 @ BassPro Shops); cracked the case on the sucker the first time I used it. Hence the Stanley.
BTW, there's another (slightly better?) version of the Stanley that has a wall bracket for mounting/storing the unit when not in use. Wish I had seen it before I bought this one. Mine just rattles around at the bottom of the hanging locker most of the time.
Never forget them. Do something to prevent it from happening again.
