Self sufficent energy

Would like to have plenty of power using solar and wind and invertors both sine wave and modified, any suggestions as to a functual setup?

Your price range will probably determine your setup. Also, what is plenty of power? What do you wish to run off of this setup? What does it have to be stuffed into, and mounted onto? I have Magnum components, 10 trojan t105's, balmar 200 amp alternator, etc.

Hmm is it doable with 10grand for the power systems and I was thinking a 35 to 40 ft cruiser vessel

Can you ballpark for a fridge, computer,lights,heater,ac,waterheater, phone charger, tv dvd, and any pumps that need to run?

Is there a marine motor that can replace a diesel engine that runs from sustainable power? Or a hybrid engine of some type? Also which are the best deep cycle batteries for a large bank?

You really need to figure out your energy budget. The only way to do that is to figure out what equipment you will be using, how much you will be using it, and then add up the numbers. There are tools all over the Internet that will help you.

As for electric power to replace a diesel. Do a forum search, but generally no. You can't carry enough batteries to replace the diesel tanks, or anywhere close. If all you will ever do is drive off the dock, then you might be able to.

As for budget, 10-15,000 would be a minimum to seriously consider this, and that would require pretty spartan living in an area near the equator, with a minimal number of cloudy days.

In the Caribbean somewhere between 300 and 400 watts of tiltable solar will cover the above EXCEPT the waterheater.

A solar shower or two will give you hot water on a sunny day and warm water on a cloudy one.
