electronic charts on PC

We are new to Sailnet
Where we cruise in Europe (Atlantic Spain/Portugal, Med) most sailors use 'shareware' charts (versions C-Map) displayed on PCs (with thumbnail GPS).
These 'free' world-coverage programs seem to be uncommon on this side of the Atlantic. Can anyone advise us on who might be providing them here?

You can get charts from NOAA.GOV. You'll need a reader, though.

Try searching for seller canvas_select_prints on eBay. They are based somewhere in Europe. They sell 3Gb sets of charts on DVD for about US$35 each.

A friend told me the charts sets are very complete although not all are up to date. He said you can buy about 30Gb charts covering the entire world this way.

OpenCPN and downloaded charts from NOAA work pretty well. You can also overlay GRIB data from GRIB.US
