South Australian liveaboards

Just wondering if there is anyone on this forum who lives aboard their boat in South Australia and is familiar with the relevant regulations?

Hi, and welcome to the board.

Now please excuse the fact that I'm not from SA and not at all familiar with local regs but I'm guessing they are somewhat similar to Sydney/NSW in that the legal limit for liveaboard is something like 30 days. Against that is the reality that the law as she is writ is essentially ignored unless you make a target of yourself. Sooo .... if you are living on board on a mooring do not run an untidy, poorly maintained ship and make damn sure you have a holding tank. In Sydney that will likely mean that you will be ignored by the maritime authorities although moving around from time to time would be a good idea.

If on a marina then provided the marina operators are OK with you living aboard then you will probably be left alone.

I stress, I'm talking from a Sydney perspective but as no-one else has chimed in with advice, I thought this might be worthwhile.

Best advice in reality is to look out for other liveaboards and seek their advice.

Cheers

Re: South Australian liveaboards

Thanks for that!

That's pretty much all I was able to gather from perusing other threads. I can't imagine our laws being any more lenient than NSW. I suppose I'll continue to seek out some liveaboards or just work it out as I go if I decide to go ahead with it.
