Anyone going sailing this weekend? (5/1)

Got my boat all cleaned up, loaded and ready to go. Will probably take her out for a quick shakedown sail after work one day this week but then hoping to do a little overnight cruise somewhere in the Sound this weekend.

John and Barry - you guys sailing this weekend? (or anyone else?) I have my boat in a slip in Smithtown (Stony Brook Harbor) till Memorial Day so I'm not in Mt. Sinai yet but maybe we could meet in the middle somewhere like Port Jeff? I will prob head out into the Sound Saturday or maybe even Friday afternoon/evening just to sail around but then going stay on the boat one or two nights with one of them hopefully being anchored out in Port Jeff. We went to dinner there two nights ago and from land the harbor looked so nice with no boats in it so I figured it would be kinda cool to drop the hook and have the place to yourself one night so early in the season.

Will anyone else be out there this weekend?

Hi Nick,

Congrats on being ready so soon. It's been a great spring so far.

My boat got splashed Friday. I haven't been on her yet, so I hope she is still floating. I will probably get down there as soon as it stops raining to move to my mooring, bend on the sails, etc.

Unfortunately, I will be out of town this weekend, so no sailing for me

Barry,
Congrats on getting her in the water. I'm sure you will have her ready to go in no time. I'm planning on staying in my slip in Smithtown till possibly Memorial Day or at least till May 15th when the launch starts running at Ralph's but if you or John or anyone plans on any short trips, shoot me a quick message and I'll try and sail your way. Good luck with everything!

went out last sunday with my new owner of my westerly tiger as Im teaching her the ropes. Got a few things wrong as she was very excited to get going and clogged my train of thought(how to sail, again? or how to get stuck together in the forepigg with a norwegian lass!!!!) was brisky wind, overcast but dry. And of course while motoring out of Florvåg,I kept repaeting the mantra about maybe we should reef. What does that mean my cloggy brain said. Any how, heeling 40 degrees later, I noticed both my headsail sheets were completely tangled up ...after a tangle fix all was smooth and we motored back to sandviken, the boats new marina...will go out today as its the only sunny day forecasted for the next 8 days8which is rain ,of course)...helooooo san diego!! her I come

I'm also away this weekend, Jane's family in Pa. I'm on the mooring already, but of course there is much to do. Still I got out one day and one evening this month.
