Moorings

I need to give up my slip in Rowayton for economic reasons. I need some advise on reasonable priced moorings, or possibly a slip. I would like to be between Stamford and possible the Connecticut River. I know this is the "Gold Coast", but there must be some locations that may be more economical.

Join a club. Housatonic Boat Club on the Housatonic river. All moorings no slips. Sorry, I don't have their number.

We just paid a little over $2K for our mooring in the Connecticut River for the upcoming season. You might want to consider getting on the waiting list for North Cove (which is managed by the Old Saybrook Harbor Commission).

I looked at the waiting lists for Old Sayebrook, and there is a long wait. I have been on the wail list in Rowayton for about 9 years, and I am now at the top of the list, but only less desirable spots come up, like at the mouth of the river which leaves the boat exposed to weather.

Thought I had a nice slip lined up, at a much more reasonable price, but overnighting on the boat is not allowed. Now that I am retired, the Teak will be redone, numerous repair, interior varnish, etc., but I live 1.5 hrs away, and don't want to drive back and forth, at $4-$5 per gallon.

I suppose you know that the mouth can be very exposed at times. I would not consider that spot.
