Planning August Trip

Looking for advice and recommendations for our big August Trip:
At least one week on board with stops in CT (possibly New Haven,Milford or Newport) Block Island (new harbor) and Greenport. My self,my boat partner and our crew like Pubs with good beers/micro brews, nightlife and resonably-moderately priced resturants. All recommendations are much appreciated as well as local mooring, slip and marina recommendations. We are familiar with the Oar at Block but only from the landside as we have been flying in for many years. Thanks in advance to all

I have visited Milford several times, really like it. A nice easily walked town, plenty of choices to eat or drink.

Re: Planning August Trip

The Oar is overpriced and poor food in my opinion.
If you want to anchor out Duck Island in Westbrook is a good. There is a Brewers yard in the harbor for dock side. Bills seafood is waterfront w/ a dingy dock, has good food and great evening entertainment. Many other choices a short walk.

Re: Planning August Trip

Hello,

Greenport would be nice. There are a number of marinas with slips but I'm not aware of any moorings. I stayed at the Townsend Manor Inn, which was very nice and has a great big pool that my kids loved. The town has a new marina, but I have heard it is 'rolly' because of the shelter island ferry.

I have eaten at a nice restaurant called the Front Street Station, but I haven't been there in a year or so.

In Milford I have been to Milford Landing a few times. It's always been great. Good dockhands and free newspaper. There are lots and lots of restaurants in Milford, but I can never remember their names.

You really should look into the active captain cruising guidebook for some great advice.
