Downsizing mast 1 foot...problems?

My Venture 2-22 sailboat came with a welded mast (previous owner repair) and I am having trouble trusting it's integrity. The factory mast is 24', can I go down to a 23' mast with no ill side effects? (found a great deal on one from a 22' Suncoast)

Thank you!

You mean aside from the rigging not fitting and the luff of your jib(s) likely being too long?

At a minimum you will need all new standing rigging, all your sails recut, and frankly I don't know I would trust a mast from another boat anyway. Unless the righting moment on the boats is the same (happen to have a NA nearby to run a couple of thousand of dollars in calculations?) it is very possible that the new mast could be to weak for your boat.

All in all if you don't trust the repair then sleave that section, or cut it off. Masts are not interchangeable.
