Epoxy spill on deck

While securing some through-deck bolted fittings, I spilled some epoxy (no filler) on the anti-slip, finely grooved, part of the deck (my boat has no anti-slipping paint). Although I scrubbed and brushed vigorously with acetone and took off as much as I could, the area of the spillage has now turned into a yellowish stain. I'm not sure how I can get rid of it other that painting over it with diluted gel coat? This may be difficult to adequately match and still be an eyesore. Any advice for this sloppy "neat freak"?

Cheers,
Albert s/v Madelon Mac 26S

Here is a $100 fix, which will also make your deck look good.

I don't know that I would resurface all of the existing non-skid just because of an epoxy stain...

It might be that you'll have to learn to live with it. Once it gets into the grooves of molded non-skid, it's very tough. You can try a little light sanding - your success will probably depend on the type of mold your non-skid has. If it's a basket weave type, you're out of luck (been there). If it's a triangular pattern, or similar, you may have some success. It probably won't be perfect at the end of the day, though.

There is no chemical that will dissolve/clean cured epoxy. You'll have to chip/pick/sand it out or cover it up. You can try to bleach it so it is less noticeable but I doubt that would do anything.

I did this before in the cockpit area. One of the old timers at the marina said to use a blow dryer to heat it up and metal putty knife to lift it off. It worked and left no trace at all.
