Good Overnight Anchorages/Mooring areas near North Shore Area

Looking to do an overnight cruise out of Salem Harbor. Looking for nice place to anchor or moor a 33' boat with a 6' draft. Know of the Mystery Island about 3 miles from Salem Harbor, but was also interested in other areas that we could get to with a 4 to 6 h sail averaging 3 to 4 knots. I have looked on my charts and consulted some cruising books, but I can't find much information.

Check out Spectacle Island in Boston Harbor if you've never been there. Google it and you'll find a link to all the Islands but Spectacle has slips and moorings available and some great hiking trails. The fee is $1.50 a foot I think for a slip. Other wise check Braces Cove in Gloucester; I'm pretty sure there is enough depth and it is a nice protected cove. We've taken our 30 Sabre there with a 5 foot draft plenty of times for over-nighters from Manchester. Hope this helps and have fun!
