    Hi Jens,
Sounds good, not sure when I'm next going out, I try and get on the water at least once a week but will be taking the mainsail off later today to get it checked over by a local loft. Hopefully it will only take a few days. Over summer I quite often go out for a couple of hours after work, so am typically at the marina in Sidney (Westport) just after 5pm.

I used to have very little interest in racing in a "serious" way .... sailing to me is about going out to enjoy the ocean and not a competitive sport.
As mentioned, I am retired. I am a house husband and have certain time constraints associated with that but most anything can be arranged, even on short notice.
At the moment I am doing a lot of errands for my parents as my dad recently broke his hip and can't yet drive but I suspect he will be fully mobile by September. Even with that, I have a lot of flexibility.
Feel free to ask any questions you would like ....

I am 54, retired (sort of), I have my basic CYA endorsement as well as coastal navigation but it is from way back in 1982. I have had a long dream of cruising but gave that up when I got married as my wife isn't much into sailing.
Well, about a month or so ago a friend of mine was tossing out old a box of old sailing magazines and I made the mistake (?) of taking them home and reading them. It brought all my old feelings back.
So here I am, trying to figure out if I am nuts or not to take up this hobby again at my age or what.
I want to get some sailing time under my belt, especially sailing in a bit more challenging situations. Long term goals, after determining that I am still as interested in sailing as before, include purchasing a boat and the probably common thoughts of Desolation Sound and Vancouver Island circumnavigation.

I am not sure if the previous messages got through to you or if I need to re-do them here. In any case, my email is jens@pacificsun.ca and I can be reached there.

    Hi there
I know it's long ago but way way back you posted about looking for a sailing buddy. If you are still looking or could use another crew/buddy, I am looking to get back into sailing and would love to hear from you and give you some more details about me.
