Anchor Rollers and Mounts

Anchor rollers provide a fair lead for anchor rodes and ease the process of weighing and retrieving anchors. They may also provide a stable platform for stowage and easy deployment of the anchor. Rollers are essential for properly guiding the rode to the gypsy of a windlass and providing enough clearance off the deck to minimize damage from chain. If extended from the bow far enough, they also help prevent damage to the hull and topsides when weighing and retrieving the anchor.

STYLES

  • Available as mounts only, with rollers or as combination mounts and rollers.
  • Available in a variety of lengths to accommodate Bruce, Fortress, Delta, plow, and pivoting-fluke type anchors.
  • Mounts come with pins or bails to hold a stored anchor securely in place and are build specifically for each size and style of anchor.
  • Units are available to mount an anchor over the bow, through an opening in an anchor platform, or on the side of a bowsprit.
  • There are even anchor mounts for storing an anchor, but not for deployment.
  • Rollers are available to provide a non-chafing platform for the rode when deploying and retrieving anchors from the stern.

MOUNTING LOCATION

  • No one location will work on all boats because there are so many variations of bows on sailboats.
  • For most sailboats the anchor mount or roller should be located to the right or left of the headstay and parallel to the centerline of the boat.
  • When a windlass is installed, the rode must lead in a straight line to the gypsy.

ACCESSORIES

  • Chain stopper if your windlass is not equipped with one.
  • Anchor tensioner if tying your anchor into the mount is not convenient.
