If it’s October, it must be time for the annual United States Sailboat Show in Annapolis, MD. Every year the SailNet crew packs some crates of specials and new products, looking forward to a weekend of meeting their customers face to face to talk about boats and sailing gear. They also assemble a duffel bag containing every conceivable type of clothing to deal with the vagaries of Annapolis’ infamously fickle October weather.
Annapolis is a charming and historic town with attractions as diverse as the Naval Academy and taverns dating back to the Revolutionary War. The autumnal air and early changing of the leaves along the Chesapeake only enhance this flavor. Put thousands of sailors into the mix, strolling through the displays and discussing the merits of different boats, and you have a weekend that will grab every sailor’s heart. If you’ve not been to the Annapolis Show before, you’re in for a real treat.
