Sue, I've come to the conclusion that the original gaskets were form molded in order to make the 3" radius turn at the ends of the port. I've completed the starboard ports and inserted the locking strip across the horizontal spans of the gaskets tapering them into the curves. I did use a sealant placed inside the ends at the turns just inside the lip of the gasket where it meets the lexan. I also placed a thin layer of sealant against the 1" edge of the hull before laying in the gasket and a dab of sealant where the cut ends of the gasket meet at the top. My stainless steel marlinespike was a better tool to insert the locking strip than the plastic tool sent with my materials. I am very pleased with the outcome both in looks and integrity of the fit. 'take care and joy, Aythya crew

Stewart, we have just ordered the gasket material, locking strip and tool from Griffiths Rubber Mills and will receive soon. Thanks for the advice on how you installed yours. We will be keeping that in mind when we install ours. The people from Griffiths Rubber Mills were extremely helpful. Will send some pictures when we are finished. Have you made any of yours yet?
Happy Sailing!

Orionsue, 'best of luck with your project. If you run across another Morgan with the need for the whole length offer them my left over footage with yours. I'd sell under cost just to not carry my left over 40' around.

Thanks Stewart. Will keep you posted on the project and let you know with regards to the leftover gasket material. If you are ever within our waters (Ponce, Puerto Rico) make sure to let us know. Rick and I would be happy to meet you!
Happy Sailing!
Sue, S/V Orion
