morgan 462 engine repower
I googled a sailnet thread from 2009, regarding a Morgan 462 engine replacement. But when I'm logged in, I'm unable to find it in the forum search...

There were several post regarding this. One person cut their cocpit floor to remove the old engine; another hoisted it onto a doly and got it out via the companin way. That person replaced the original with a Perkins/Sabre M92 (no longer produced)
While I can get a reuilt 4-236 from TAD, has anyone else repowered with a Yanmar? (like the 110hp)

Happy Sailing

Re: morgan 462 engine repower
Reading a thread about a M27 re-power project, I noticed my old post and thought I would follow-up for any interested parties.
Never had to cut the cockpit.... I based my selection of engines on HP and brand/distributor presence. I did not want to be "stuck" anywhere waiting for part or order filters that are not readily available. Choice was a Yanmar 4JH4_HTE. As my is a major refit, did not worry about engine mounts and location etc. The M462 has a great engine room so location of the engine was never an issue. Now, with a new shaft, new mounts new wiring she is purring and moving this boat nicely. So far (just 5hrs on the engine) but i have no regrets.
Good luck to anyone else willing to take on such a project.

Thanks for updating your progress here.
It took some time to do that re-power, eh?

Re: morgan 462 engine repower
3 yrs, but it was more than just a re-power... I like to say that I spent 2yrs pulling the old stuff out and the last yr putting everything new in... So the whole engine room was emptied, walls and bilges sanded followed by new pain etc. and now everything that goes in is new... I still have a couple of yrs left before I can sit back and say that I'm done...

Happy Sailing!
