1970 Morgan 35'

I am going to go look at a Morgan 35' that is on the hard in the next couple of days. The boat has the mast up. Outside of Sailingdog's great list is there anything specific I should look for?

Thanks
Storm

Have had one now for 6 years. Check the mast support footing. You can stick a camera in the bildge from one of the access hatches and review the photos. There are two hatches in the main cabin and there may be one in the head. There may be a very rusty steel post supporting the mast.

Check out the keel bolts. The bolts should be ok but the washers are probably rusting out.

Check the centerboard cable.

The centerboard will bang back and forth all night at anchor. Check to see that when it is up it doesn't have much slop. I shove/wedge a rag up the centerboard slot to keep it from banging. Tough to do in the winter cause you have to dive under the boat.

Check the rudder post for leaks.

There are two models, one has a quarter berth and it is the only decent sea berth.

Does it have a holding tank?

Great boat, hope it works out for you.

Brad
