steering cable tension
I have a 1976 Morgan 37 oi. I had to have a new rudder made and it is now on the boat. When adjusting steering how tight should the cables be on the quadrant?

Re: steering cable tension
I'll guess by the year that this is an Edson wheel? If it is then the cables should be tight enough to remove the slack but with no tension. Leave yourself some room on the turnbuckle as you may need to retighten it later on as things stretch out into place.

Re: steering cable tension
About 4 yrs ago we removed the rudder in my boat to access the shaft prop and cutlless bearing. When it was all back in I had go in and do the the lovely greasy job of putting the cables back on; and made them too tight LOL. Even though there was new grease in the rudder tube it was still sort of tight. Finally last year LOL I got in there and loosened the cable as Dog ship suggests it's been fine ever since.
