Icom radio review

Say that again; did not copy; please repeat. this is what your asking after you just missed a call on the Radio. This can be a real safety issue or just plain annoying. I just had an occasion this weekend where I did not hear an announcement which was annoying.

There are two radios that will save voice messages and let you replay the last call so you don't loose the call forever. A couple of years ago Cobra came out with "Rewind Say it Again", and now ICOM has come up with "Last Call Voice Recording" on the Icom IC-M73 Plus Handheld VHF. ICOM's last call voice recording function automatically saves the last min of an incoming call. This ensures you will not miss a call again.

The M73 is a professional quality VHF with features that yacht Captains, and Industry professionals require. The IC-M73PLUS builds on many of the features of the IC-M71 . There are many cheap radios on the market and there are many with lots of fancy features but what Industry Pros want is clear sound and function.

The IC-M73 has six watts of high transmit power and is waterproof IPX8 submersible construction. It features loud 700mW audio output and approximately 18 hours of operating time.

Being able to hear and getting heard is the most important feature for a pro. The built-in bidirectional active noise cancelling reduces background noise to improve transmitted voice and incoming calls. For voice clarity the signal processing technology emphasizes low pitched sound to provide a rich bass sound for both transmit and receive signals.

The IC-M73PLUS uses a BTL (bridge-tied load) amplifier that doubles the audio output. Its internal speaker delivers a loud 700mW audio output.

All features lead to a radio that you can hear and if not you can rewind the recording and play it again.
