Newport 28 - adding stern perch seats

Have any of you modified your Newport 28 stern pulpits to add a "perch seat" - like those you see on Catalina's?

I've seen the Sternperch seats available from CRL Marine but the Newport doesn't have a middle rail. I'm thinking about adding a rail and seats but wanted benefit of anyone else who's done it.
