Newport Table

Hello – I’m new to the group.

I have a Newport 28. I am having trouble with the table. It is too old to hold the screws to the tabletop.

Does anyone have a suggestion on what to replace the tabletop with?

My table was a bit loose when I bought my boat last year. You can try larger screws if you can't re-tighten the old ones. Another thing that you can do is put either a glued golf tee into the hole if it's large enough and let it dry. Drill it out to the size screw you have and put it back in. If the hole isn't large enough for a tee, you can stuff glued toothpicks into the hole and drill them when they dry.

That's a good one... I have a problem with the base that holds the table when it is unfolded. It slides a bit and droops the leaf. Annoying!
