I was just wondering how/ whats the quickest way to redo a bottom to relaunch in a month?

i havve already grinded out most big blisters and bveled to a 12-1 slope with 60 grit been drying for a month

i would like to do the following; sand hull and pop the littler ones i didnt get,
clean, fill with west system epoxy and colloidal and make best to fair,,sand, then just prime and paint..

i understand about barrier coatings and such but this is just a temp job u guys see fit?? or let me know how stupid it is just help soon!!!! much love. happy working on your boat-err sailing

You should be able to seal the area by sanding around the filled area and then applying a coat of the same resin used for filling.. applied with a rag / sponge / or thinly with a brush. SEALED...
The very same resin you seal holes with after you have drilled holes through either the hull or the deck.
Applies to G.R.P.

Having said that Marine plywood can be sealed using The West epoxy Resin.

I had the shipyard do the same blister removal process for me 3 years ago. They used 2 coats of barrier paint over the reepoxied bottom. Then 2 coats of bottom paint over that. No blisters since then.
It would be foolish to skip the barrier coats after all that hard work. It goes on quick and easy compared to grinding out blisters.

thanks guys.. i do understand the barrier coat is the absolute way to go.. from what i read and understand though epoxy alone is already less permeable than the polyester resin the boat was laminated with.. im not having a boatyard do the work im doing it myself and i need a quick job.. sanding down all 4 coats of paint and then gelcoat is a lot to do in a month not to mention adding the barrier coat layer. when i say in a month i mean the weekends of the month as i work during the week

This is why I never ask a question on a forum that I already know the answer for...LOL:laugher

If you are tight on time then do what you can, if you are only in for one season next year you may have to strip it again or may not. You will be able to post if it held up either way.

* West system filled with colloidal silica is not the most fun to sand.
* If you've removed glass, aren't you replacing the glass? Depends on how deep and how frequent.
* Barrier coating is just obvious. If the reason for the short cut is a sale, don't shortcut.
* If it is a trip, don't shortcut. Just wait until next season.

I can't IMAGINE stripping the bottom and then doing it over. Make some time, somehow.
