Re: Calculate TV 12V amps w/ 115 power supply @ 27 watts
Yes, you're about right and it may be even less due to the inefficiency of converting from 110 to 12v through their power supply.
IM trusting your math, i don't have a calculator on the ipad ind it's too late for long division.

Calculate TV 12V amps w/ 115 power supply @ 27 watts
I've got a question. On my boat I'm thinking about replacing my old non HD tv with a new HD tv. The TV in question is a Viewsonic VT2215LED 22" LED Premium HDTV Display.
On the specifications page it says the TV uses 27 Watts normally from it's 115/220 to 12V power supply. I know the formula amps = watts/volts, so amps = 27/12. If I were to hardwire the tv to my boat's 12V electrical system should I expect it to draw 2.25 DC amps?
I don't really know if that's right because the 27 Watts is listed as the draw on a 115 system, will this transfer over to 12V?
