bestfriend Crossing over to the starboard sheave makes sense since its a different line. That end looks the same. The line not going over the sheave near the mast has got to be wrong. When we hoist the main its been getting caught up on that reefing line, it doesn't feed out. Now I know why. Its rubbing on the boom instead of rolling over the sheave. Thanks Capttb. And thanks for the diagram, good resource to have.

capttb I'll try to attach a jpeg of the single line reefing on my Catalina, should give you an idea of what's going on in there if it works.

rigging inside the boom

I took a closer look at the rigging in the boom today. I noticed that the reefing line runs from the block at the mast step up into the boom, but then runs under the sheave instead of over it (like the rest of the lines do). Is that right? Seems odd to me. Also, on the other end of the boom, the same line comes out two sheaves over, not in line with where it goes in. Now, I don't know the inner workings of the boom(yet) and reefing lines, maybe it supposed to be that way. Can anyone give me the skinny on this?
